Though Angel was an active member of this newly found organization that dealt with so many slayers and to-be watchers, he was still rarely seen in the halls of Hyperion. Angel knew this place better than anyone here actually, so he also knew how to avoid them. Since the whole LA apocalypse thing, he even became more solitary and brooding than before. Though the hotel itself changed over time, it still felt somewhat like home for the ensouled vampire. Actually, it was the closest thing to a home since he lost Angel Investigations along.
As he was wandering through the empty hallways he made his way towards the library. He opened the doors and entered this silent sanctum of knowledge. A sudden flash from the past awoken memories inside his head. He remembered the library at Sunnydale High. It was a strange sensation, both happy and sad. It made him think about his past, and about the reasons he had to let it go. To him, it still represented an unresolved part of his life, and as much as he thought about it he never could get it straight inside his mind.
Angel continued as he passed between the bookshelves. He slowly made his way and stopped as his eye caught a glimpse of a demonology book. As he outstretched his hand to take a closer look at the book, he heard footsteps and the door opening. Company was the last thing he needed right now.

Buffy sighed as she held three or more file folders in her arms as she looked down at her phone. She got one of those blackberry things, she really liked it, it was pretty and practical. It helped her remember things since she started to forget alot lately. She shoved the phone into her pants pocket and walked down the hallway, her heels clicking against the floor, echoing through the hall. She brushed blonde hair out of her face as she reached the library door and went inside.
She looked around, noticing how dim it was in there. To her, it was a good thing. She slowly made her way to a large round table in front of her as she placed the folders down. She leaned against the chair and looked at the fire place as it crackled. She ran her hand down her face before her heart stopped. Her hreath hitched as her eyes moved toward the stacks. She felt a presence in the room, a very familiar presence, one that left her breathless everytime he was around.
Buffy turned around in her spot, her green eyes looking around, not seeing Angel at all. Her lips parted slowly as she looked down a pathway, her tongue sliding over her bottom lip. "A-Angel?" Buffy finally voiced as her delicate fingers ran across the surface of the tabled as she forced herself to moved down the way. She looked at the books before she stood on one side of a book shelf. Her fingers ran across the spine of a book before she looked through the spaces and saw him standing right here, in front of her on the other side of the bookcase.
"Hey.."

As the door opened Angel could hear the footsteps closer with every second. Before he even had the chance to avoid the newcomer completely he felt a familiar scent in the air. She was the last person he had expected here right now. Angel unconsciously pulled the book from the shelf and took a step back. He had no idea how to behave around her anymore. They never actually talked since he came anyway. It was always somewhat formal and absent. Angel was a welcomed help around here, and he appreciated how they left him alone as he desired. But Buffy... that was another thing. He wanted to talk to her so badly, and then again, he had no idea what to say.
She noticed him as well. He gazed at her face under the dim light of the library and could divert his eyes.
"A-Angel?... Hey."
[/i] "Hey Buffy..."Angel wanted to say so much more, but decided not to... So much has happened to both of them and he promised to himself that he would respect her decisions... no matter what. He gazed at her eyes through the bookshelf for a moment and then made his way around it. They were facing each other now. "I came to... um..." He noticed he was still holding the demonology book. "...find a book."He wasn't making sense, but then again, nothing these days was...[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]

It was times like this that Buffy wished she was still invisible. That had been awkward. The things she did 7 years ago were things she cared to keep to herself, and between Spike of course. She sighed as she looked at Angel, her feelings for the tall, dark vampire were still obvious as they always were. The thing between her and Angel never seemed to disappear. She watched as he walked around the shelf, making his way toward her. Buffy stammered slightly as she looked up at him. She looked to the book in his hand as he said he was looking for a book.
"Oh um.." She then motioned behind her, as if the table was still right there, which it really wasn't. "Working on some file work, in peace for once." Buffy said, looking up at him. He was so close to her, she could still smell him, the way he always smelled. She took a slight step toward him, her eyes darting a bit.
"I haven't really.." She stopped and looked away. She then sighed, looking back up at him with her glistening green eyes. "What happened to us? We used to be able to speak to each other...Now its passing hellos and fleeting glances, Angel.."

Angel was a bit startled by her direct approach. He wasn't sure what to tell her. Sure, he could have said he still cared, though cared was definitely an understatement. He loved her, as much as he loved her years before. It was something he could never deny. And as much as he tried to leave it behind, he couldn't... their paths were always entwining, one way or another. But as much as he wanted to be with her, he was still afraid of what may happen. Angel told her once before, that he would even put his soul at stake if it meant he could be with her. And it frightened him...
He would have given anything if he could take comfort in her.
But reality was a bitch... and it gave him no chance of love, no matter how hard he tried.
"I don't know Buffy..." He was telling the truth.
"I don't want it to be like this though."
Angel glanced at the floor for a moment and then gazed at her eyes once more. She was as beautiful as ever and he couldn't help but stare.
"You never told me how the cookie-dough thing was going on." Angel smiled, but soon realized he might have been to direct. It was too late to change the topic anyway.

Buffy looked at Angel, knowing that just coming at him with words wasn't going to help her get her answers. She knew that things were hard to handle right now. It was hard just standing there, looking up at him, having him be so close to her yet really so far away.
Buffy sighed and wrapped her arms around herself, listening as he answered, but with nothing plausable to use. She knew that things between her and Angel weren't perfect, they were about as bad as things were between her and Spike. Things between Buffy and alot of people weren't great.
"I don't want it to be like this either." She said, licking her lips again as she looked up from the floor to meet his gaze. Those deep, penatrating brown eyes, the ones that she still saw in her sleep. Then when he mentioned her cookie dough speech, a small laugh left her.
"I said it would be a long time coming.." She said, her body still angled toward him, her arms crossed as she slowly looked up at him, her elbow brushing against Angel suddenly and it forced her to look into those eyes again.

Angel got serious again.
"I know." He felt her arm brush with his body. It was as if someone gave him a reminder of what he used to have. He wanted nothing more right now than to hold her in his arms. But things were just so darn complicated. With that it seemed it was usually the case.
A moment of silence followed and this was the part when Angel thought one of them was about to say some lame excuse and finish this conversation. But that would only prolong the pain of not speaking to one another. Angel respected Buffy and her wishes, but right now he just couldn't help himself. He was without her for so long and every second now seemed to last for an eternity.
Without any hesitation Angel stepped forward and hugged Buffy. This could have either brought them closer or torn them apart. And right now, he was willing to throw everything else aside if he could hold her once more.
"I missed you..."
He whispered.

Buffy wasn't quite sure why she was still standing here, not saying or doing anything. There were so many scenerios dancing in her little head, she didn't even notice that Angel was about to move. Buffy gasped as Angel embraced her, pulling the small blonde into his arms and her eyes widened a bit. Then as always, Buffy melted into him and wrapped her arms around him, her hands resting palm down on his back. He smelled so good, it was hard to pull away.
Buffy closed her eyes when he said he missed her and she laughed a little, not much though as she slowly moved her head from his chest and looked up at him. He was so close it was hard to imagine. She blinked slowly, her green eyes glistening with unshed tears that she still harbored within her.
"I missed you too." Buffy said, her fingers gripping his back a bit as she looked up at him. When she did, she saw the man she saw that night in the alley, the man she saw before their first kiss, the man before they made love the first time, the man that clung to her in chains, the man that danced with her at prom, the man that she kissed right before the final fight in Sunnydale. That was when Buffy leaned up and let her lips claim Angel's, almost like she did that night 5 years ago. She wasn't thinking at this point as her pink lips claimed Angel's for the first time in very long time. All she knew was that she was lost in the moment.

Angel felt her gaze upon his eyes and everything else seemed to slowly fade away. It felt as if ages had past since he held her in his arms. And though a part of him still knew that their love was impossible, the other simply didn't care and was prepared for anything if it meant being with her.
Suddenly he felt her lips collide with his as she kissed him as passionately as she used to years ago. It felt as if someone breached the laws of time and space and brought them back to Sunnydale ages ago. Angel kissed her back slowly at first, but as his passion for her started building up the kiss was intensifying. He gently caressed her hair with his hand, still holding her, never wanting to let go.
If only they could stay in this moment forever...
But Angel knew that Buffy still hadn't came to terms with herself... and all of this. His return, the responsibilities that burdened her... It must have been hard for her. He was ready to carry some of her burden, but he wasn't sure she'd let him do it. He wasn't even sure if he would manage to control himself while in her presence. Angel knew what could happen... if he were to lose his soul once more...
And yet, he decided to stay.
He left Buffy once... and didn't want to do the same mistake all over again... even if it meant losing himself.

His lips were just as addicting as they had been that night so many years ago. She could still feel the way he touched her face, the way the moonlight streamed into her bedroom window, the thrill of kissing a guy when her mother was home down stairs. Then the fear as he pulled away from her and revealed what he really was to her. So many memories were flooding her mind as her lips moved against Angel's like a well choregraphed dance. It brought back her back to times when she was so naive about love.
"You're hurt." Buffy reached up to touch the cut on Angel's face and her jerked away. Buffy looked up at him, confused. "Hey, its okay, I'm not gonna hurt you." She said and Angel sighed, shaking his head, his fangs bared as he looked away from her.
"It's not that, it's.." He trailed off and Buffy tilted her head to side and gave him a look. "What is it?" She asked and he looked back down at her, still in game face as he sighed.
"You shouldn't have to touch me when I'm like this." He said and Buffy looked at him, understand now. "Oh." She said before she pulled off her glove and lifted her hand up to his face. She ran it down his face, shaking her head and smiling gently at him. "I didn't even notice." She whispered before their lips met in a passionate kiss there on the ice rink.
Buffy slowly pulled away, her hands running down his back slowly as her eyes still remained closed. She slowly opened her eyes, her nose touching his and she shuddered out an exhale. They shouldn't be doing this, not right now. She licked her lips and stammered as she tried to find the right words to say to him, only her eyes met his and she stepped away from him.
"Um, I have work to do." She said, straightening her top and brushing her hair out of her face.

Angel felt Buffy pull away from him. As if some invisible force had torn them apart. He was as confused as before about them and about the point where they stood. And though his still heart told him otherwise, deep down he figured that what they were doing was wrong. And it hurt... But he was used to the pain. The years were beneficial in that area.
"I.." He gazed at her eyes.
"I love you..."
[/i] Oh how he wanted to say this... But it merely echoed in his mind. "I have something to take care of as well."A moment of silence that passed seemed like it opened the vast chasm between them once more. Angel felt she wasn't ready for this and hated himself for bringing her into this position. Buffy told him to wait till she was ready, but though he promised he would, he was simply overcome by his feelings for her. They were true, pure, and yet somehow forbidden. Angel noticed he dropped his book in the meantime and picked it up grasping it firmly. "I should go..."He turned towards the door, but before he started walking turned to Buffy once more. "It was nice seeing you again."This was the part where he desperately wanted to smile and somehow comfort her with the "everything-will-be-OK look", but his face was still frozen in it's permanent brooding self. Angel turned towards the door and exited into the hallway of Hyperion. [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]
