The day was still young as the sun slowly made it's way rising from the horizon and revealing the peaceful blue skies above. Kai was making it's through the crowded streets of Beijing.
Lately, there was only one thing on his mind. Actually, there were only few things that interested this young half-demon at all. Since he learned about the existence of demons, vampires and other things 'that go bump in the night' he had been focused on ending the battles between them. Somehow he knew inside himself that this struggle was in a way pointless, for there was too much evil in the world, and he was alone against it all. Or so he believed.
Lately though Kai focused on the so called 'chosen', the slayers that started awaking throughout the world. But the strange thing was that every time he managed to locate a slayer they somehow vanished. Lately it began almost impossible to find them, and this was the fact that made Kai worry. It seemed as they were leaving China. But if they were... if the slayers were leaving, then there would be no one left to protect the innocent. The demon activity was fading for the last few years, but still it seemed wrong. The new found balance was about to be upset.
The funny thing was that in every tome he could find, every writing, every book, it said that the slayer could be only one. This phenomenon was certainly not planned. It was troublesome indeed.
Kai finally reached his destination. Up front he could see a group of girls led by a tall dark haired girl. She didn't look Chinese though, but among the girls that were in her company, Kai recognized the slayer he learned about days before.

China. Not Faith's favorite place in the world but still a pretty fun place to visit. She'd only been there once before and her stay had been less than suitable. It had been a while back and she was just getting used to the bunch of slayers deal instead of being one of the chosen two. Also, she'd had to go back to her devious ways of finding a place to stay because the whole Slayer Academy funding was kind of low. Eventually, Kennedy managed to convince her family to help out so this time Faith was traveling in style.
The three girls that trailed behind her were all slayers that had been sensed by a local coven. Faith had no idea why she'd been sent on this assignment. Her chinese wasn't the best and she had no idea why they hadn't chosen someone more suited. The fact was, there really wasn't anyone more suited to go pick up slayers. Buffy had her hands tied and Giles needed to stick around for the kid he was now caring for. Faith was the only one who was Free to travel the world and find more girls, which was actually really awesome sometimes.
"Come on, girls. Keep up. We've got one last stop before we go to the airport." She led them through the streets hurriedly and spoke to them in broken chinese. Two out of the three couldn't really speak english and it helped that Faith had been studying her languages the past 5 years. The girls banded tighter against her as they started to walk mored cursed streets. This was mostly the demon district of the city and most humans knew to stay out. Faith had something to pick up and she wasn't going to be afraid of a few green-skinned demons getting in her way. Plus, most of them knew better than to attack a slayer.
"Mr. D?" She yelled out into the small household. She rushed the girls inside and closed the door behind them in case anyone was following them from outside. An old man entered the room and as soon as he looked at Faith a smile covered his face. "Faith." he said and held out his hands for a hug. She smiled and hugged the man. He was one of her connections around the world but also a very good friend, even if he was technically a demon. As he turned around the sight of a tail protruded from the golden robes he was wearing.
"Is it done?" She asked in an excited voice. He disappeared for a few moments and returned with a very special gift for the brunette slayer. He held it out to her and she accepted it the way she was supposed to. "I love it." She said as she pulled the katana from it's sheath. She replaced it and thanked him again with a hug. They said their goodbyes and she turned to the girls.
"Let's get a move on." she said to them in chinese and they left the building back onto the streets. Only this time, she had a new weapon and was itching to use it. In fact, a part of her was hoping to get attacked but she would never wish that on the girls. They barely knew where their strength came from, a fight would be too much for them right now.

This was the last place he'd usually thought he'd find humans. Young girls weren't actually very fond of the demon district in Beijing. The group seemed to have stopped at a household nearby and for a moment the tall brunette went inside only to return moments later with a package in her hands.
Kai observed with interest how the girl was making her move. She seemed confident, strong, and she definitely had a leadership quality. She told the girls to pick up the pace and they were on the move once more. Kai was keeping a close look on the group. Losing another slayer wasn't an option. And somehow he thought that the direct approach might seem threatening, so he decided to wait. Looking as normal as he possibly could he kept moving.
A demon suddenly bumped into him... A large demon to be precise. But Kai had no time to deal with frivolities like these. A large portion of demons here wasn't exactly the honest sort. Kai knew that because he monitored them and their activities daily. As he raised his brow and looked upon the demon's face, his eyes glistened with a ruby shine. It was enough for the demon to back off.
"Good..."
[/b] Kai hated violence, but he never hesitated to use it as much as needed. As the demon moved aside he noticed that the slayers have moved out of sight. "Swell... just swell..."[/i] He glanced at the street and moved forward. With any luck he would catch up. Though it was early, the streets were crowded. The good thing about being a demon though, well, half-demon to be precise, was the fact you could sense other 'freaks' when they were nearby. And a group of slayers wasn't that unnoticeable. He kept a sure pace and suddenly he could see them again. They were moving fast as well... It seemed their goal was... "Beijing International Airport."Kai was pleased. He picked up his pace and followed them still being out of sight. Being surrounded by other demons made him barely noticeable... even for a slayer. Pleased with his chase, he smiled. Faith couldn't help but feel like they were being followed. Being surrounded by demons didn't help her trust these instincts because she couldn't really pick up on anything. The way the girls were sticking close to her though made her believe that they were probably getting a similar feeling. It wasn't exactly a menacing feeling, just the feeling that someone was watching them specifically. Faith shrugged it off. There were plenty of demons watching them and trying to decide if they were going to attack or not.
"I hope you girls all have your passports." Faith was pretty sure that the Academy had set stuff up for them. They didn't really need to worry about much since Harmony managed to keep good tabs on their trips expenses and all the essentials needed for bringing three girls into their country unknown to the government.
"Let's hurry now." She said as they passed from the demon district to the safer, brighter streets of the human world. It really helped that the demon district wasn't necessarily always seen by humans. This was safe for both humans and demons alike. More so for the Humans but at least now Slayers could keep better tabs on the demon world in China.
They arrived at the airport about 20 minutes later. They'd traveled there on foot but since they were naturally faster than most humans it hadn't been that exhausting. Everything was in order for them at the airport and now all they had to do was wait for their flight. The terminal was huge and there were hundreds, maybe thousands of people, walking around. She noticed the multiple stores around them and wondered if she would ever actually buy something from the airport.
"Anyone up for some drinks?" She asked pointing to the terminal bar and waiting for the girls to give her an answer. They'd been pretty quiet up until now and she wanted to get to know them better. After all, she couldn't really help train them if she didn't know them.

The group ahead was fast, and Kai figured that if he hadn't had the demon half, it would have been exhausting. They continued on their path towards the airport, and it made him more careful, because he knew that only moments were separating him from exiting the demon district.
Kai slowed down, still making sure that the group of slayers was within his sight. It was an imperative now. No matter the consequence, he decided to get to the bottom of this.
As the finally exited, he noticed that the crowds started thinning around them. He read about these slayers enough to know that the possessed a certain sense for detecting non-humans. Demons and vampires especially. And though vampires seemed to be their primary concern, Kai had no intention of jeopardizing his present accomplishment. He kept he distance and used all of the abilities and features he learned during his martial arts training so that he would be as unnoticeable as possible.
The group finally arrived st the airport. He saw them take a break. He was right, the brunette was the leader. And the other girls, possibly other 'chosen'.
Kai never fought a slayer, so he was somewhat eager to know of his position if a fight would occur. Nevertheless, not a single thought of deliberately starting a brawl didn't come to his mind. He was curious, but not bloodthirsty. What could he accomplish with such behavior anyway.
He stood at a safe distance and continued monitoring the peculiar group.

The feeling that someone was following them was almost too hard to ignore now. She decided to swallow the feeling because the first thing on her mind was getting these girls home safely. She didn't care who was following them. All she knew was that she had to take care of it without the girls knowing. She smiled at them and ordered drinks from the surprisingly English looking bartender. She didn't even bother asking how he'd ended up here. Instead she had them all sit down at a table.
"I'm going to use the bathroom." She said in broken Chinese. When the girls nodded and sipped at their drinks some more she smiled knowing they'd understood. Then as she was walking away from them she added "Stay here." behind her back just to drive the point home. She didn't want them wandering off and getting lost when they were so close to being back home again. She made her way toward the bathroom and entered it for a few seconds. If there was someone watching them, and she had the feeling there was, then she'd have to find them.
She assumed they thought she was the leader and they weren't wrong. She just didn't want any strays following them back to the US without knowing why it was following them. She left the bathroom and scanned the crowd. A plane was announced and people bustled around to reach their flights on time. There was only one person who wasn't in constant motion. She saw him only for a second before some big guy walked in front of him and he disappeared from view. She headed back toward the girls and sat back down with them.
"That's our plane." She said hearing an announcement over the intercom. She grabbed the small bag at her side and handed them each their plane tickets. They were heading home and even the guy following them couldn't do anything about it. Unfortunately, that meant she wouldn't get to play with her new toy until she got home.

When the foreign girl separated from the group it seemed a bit strange to Kai and this was the point where he let his guard down. The girl entered the bathroom and didn't come out for a few moments. Suddenly, when a plane was announced, every person in the airport started moving around, and in all this commotion, Kai noticed that he was spotted by the brunette.
He knew that sooner or later, they would figure he was watching, only he hoped it would be more later than sooner. He used the first chance he had to get out of her sight and merge with the crowd around them. Kai hoped it would be enough. He noticed that they were on the move once more. Then he figured he had a problem. This was an international airport, and he had no passport, no tickets, no nothing. A challenge was ahead, and Kai loved a good challenge.
And he had no intention of losing them now. He was so close... too close.
Kai followed them as far as he could. He was only meters away when he saw the gate they went through. He memorized the number of the gate, and the plane it was leading to. If he couldn't get in as a passenger, and he was pretty sure his chances were very low with all this security, then he'd use a less conventional way.
Kai glanced the group for the last time and separated from them. He had another plan in mind. That airplane wasn't going off groud without him. One way or another.

Faith and the girls hurried to their gate and gave all the proper forms to the man standing in their way. He smiled at them warmly and gave them their tickets back, stamped and ready to go. As soon as they were on their way toward boarding the plane, Faith took their tickets and placed them into her carry on bag. The last thing she needed was for them to get lost on the way. She smiled at the girls and rushed them to their seats. The academy may have money but they were still sending her on these trips in coach seating. She'd have to talk to them about that when she got home.
"Next stop America girls. Be sure to get sleep. I know I will." She said to them as she bent her chair back and allowed herself to rest for once in the past three days or so she'd been here. She wasn't sure who that man was and what he'd wanted but for now they were safe. She had the sneaking suspicion that this wasn't the last time she'd see him but for now the safety of the plane would have to do. As long as they didn't crash anyway.
She waved to a stewardess who brought her the extra pillow she'd asked for and an extra blanket. She curled up as best as she could on the uncomfortable seat and her eyes drifted closed. Who knew what would be waiting for them when they landed? The academy was a place for the girls to take refuge and Faith intended to get them there unharmed. Even if that meant putting herself in danger.
