After her training session Alana had retreated to her apartment for a quick shower before making her way out into the sunshine still not sure she belonged there. Everything looked so beautiful in the soft light of near dusk shadows beginning to grow beneath the benches as the sun began to set until the whole courtyard was bathed in a different glow from the crescent moon above her head. Her petite feet walked swiftly to a bench propped between two trees.
Seconds later found her sitting her back against one of the trees and one of her legs propped on the bench so she took the entire thing up. The breeze drew her hair up from in her face into her the air making her look younger and alot more innocent. She sighed contentedly as it started to rain.
Something about the rain always made everything seem fresh and clean. If only the rain could do the same for her, but it had yet to succeed and she'd sat out in many a rainstorm. Her head turned upward and she embraced the feel of the cool water washing over her head and soaking her through.
Blue eyes watched others rush inside to get out of the rain and she couldn't help but laugh lightly into her hand. These girls were supposed to face down demons but they couldn't handle a little rain. "The world is doomed," Alana mumbled to herself eyes rolling lightly.
She tood up stretching wondering if today would be a good day to start patrolling solo. After all it was a dreary night most of the baddies would staying in. Right? It worked in theory but she still wasn't sure. Shrugging she sat back leaning on the tree once more. Tonight would not be her night.
Taking a deep breath she started to doze even while still being soaked. Her mind drifting to how much easier it was to live in a home full of people like one big family than it was to live in a closed off community. Maybe this place could be home after all.

Do you want it e n o u g h ? Do you want it at a l l ? Should you need it at a l l ? Do you want it e n o u g h ?
Dawn knew what it was like to feel like you didn't belong. For a long time, she was the very epitany of it, ignored for her naive age and passed over for another. But now that she was older and in training to become a Watcher, Ms. Summers had become her nickname, rather than Dawnie or Lil' Bit. At first, it had been slightly uncomfortable, since it made her feel old, but then again, wasn't that what she wanted? So she took her new nickname in stride, though she couldn't help but fall into moments of nostalgia here and there, when things were alot simpler. Now with so many faces and names, it was easy to get lost and lose your identity. Not technically speaking, since their new staff that was in charge of organizing files was wicked awesome, but psychologically speaking.
She hadn't been able to write anything in weeks. Of course, her main objective was to become a Watcher, but writing was her passion. It was part of the whole art and self-expression thing. God, she was still using the word "thing," even in her thoughts. Oh yeah, she was maturing, alright. Laughing lightly at herself, Dawn walked into the courtyard, hoping to cut through it to get back to the building. She'd gone out for a bite to eat, catching the eye of a cute boy behind the counter. Sometimes she wondered what it would be like for her to start dating now, what with all of the responsibilities that were being piled up on her.
Despite that, with her older sister's whining about 'extracurricular activities,' she couldn't help but want a change.
Dawn hadn't realized how late it had gotten until she reached the courtyard and saw it bathed in an almost ghastly glow. Was she really out that late? She glanced down at her watch, frowning a bit and then chuckling with a roll of her eyes as she noticed that the time was probably way off. One of the girls must've snuck in and messed with it after the debate the other day about what was the best object to carry if you could only carry one. Apparently, they didn't like to lose. She grinned to herself as she grasped her jean jacket closer to her body, before looking up as it began to rain. That was, before she noticed someone sitting on a bench, their eyes closed as if the sun were shining brightly outside.
"Hey," she said as she approached the slayer, a cross between curiosity and laughter in her eyes. "You do know it's pouring, right?" Stupid question, but she had yet to meet someone who seemed so content in the rain. I mean, she wasn't exactly dancing either, she was just sitting there. Not like it was any of her business, but she was intrigued.

Alana's eyes opened quickly hearing someone addressing her. The peaceful look on her face turned to one of surprise she hadn't expected anyone to remain outside in the rain, after all she was starting to chill. How could any one not notice the rain.
"I hadn't noticed," She joked in response a confident arrogance to her words but it was also obvious that it wasn't meant to be. "I love it though, the rain... its so cool and clean so unlike everything else out there ya know?" She mumbled in somewhat of an explanation to why she was still outside.
Closer examination of the woman in front of her made her realize she had seen her before but she was having difficulty placing her. She didn't look like a slayer and looked a bit young to be a watcher. But who knew what with the million or more slayers having been called maybe the watchers too were getting younger just to keep up.
One thin eyebrow curved up. "So uh.. what are you still doing out in the rain, there's gotta be a reason sides talking to me ... Names Alana by the way," Alana rattled off in curiosity her tone not betraying how curious she was but more a bored drawl.
Suddenly the rain didn't feel so clean anymore it was starting to feel cold. She shivered mildly and couldn't help but crack a smile at herself. She wasn't going to go in now after making such a show on how her love of rain. She noticed the other girl too looked cold and in the similar mind set debating whether or not to go in.
