Overall Personality « Lian is a sickenly sweet and optomistic person. If she isn't smiling its a rarity. She is kind to everyone equally even if they are not kind in return believing that everyone is good deep down inside of them. She also believes that even the truely evil can be turned with the right motivation but that doesn't mean shes going to sit there and try to reason with a demon trying to kill her to acquisition the map in her possession... one that only she can read (some demons are not aware of that particular quirk.)
Lian has little tollerance for war or death and mournes for the dead with a tenacity equal to her love for the living. She values life, whether it be human... demon or plant. Gardens grow better when she's around and she believes it is because she talks them as if they are her children. Every seedling to be nurtured and loved.
Honor was a big thing instilled upon her since birth and along with that comes great responsibility. She never lies or breaks a promise her word is golden. She takes any job or responsibilty to heart and becomes upset when someone else does not do the same. She becomes frustrated with the world when she witnesses how unjust people can be and how slack they are with duties. She finds America to be one of the least honorable countries the world has to offer, though she will not speak it outloud, rudeness is another of her quirks.
Her lifes ambition is to have a child of her own with someone she loves. She believes that children are the future and that every child is a chance for change. With such hope she wants to change her destiny starting with her child.

Overall History « Lian was born in Tibet while her mother was seeking council from the monks that resided there. She grew up running through temples and being free until the carefree nature of childhood disipated and her training started. She was told of her destiny to keep the map to the actual city that formed the myth of Shangri-la in her possession. Lian was born into a family of witches that were entrusted long ago to keep the treasure (a great weapon for demon kind) from falling into the wrong hands, a great responsibility but also a huge honor to be chosen for. She was dismayed to hear however that it was her duty to have a daughter simply so the map would have a guardian.
Lian was left with the an ancient order of monks in Tibet while her mother returned to a secure location deep in the mountains to serve as a diversion while her daughter held the map and learned to protect it. She was trained in old forms of Martial Arts which taught her to abhore violence. She learned to hate destiny when she learned of her mothers murder all for this stupid map and what it held. The years passed quickly and soon the child had grown into a young lady with powers over the mystic arts though she focused primarily on what would be needed to keep her alive rather than what would harm others.
By the time she had turned twenty the demons had located her and began pursuit of the map. So far she was able to dispell them with confusion charms and barriers though she knew it would not last long and she would have to kill some of them. At that point she pleaded with the monks at the high temple to give her another option at which time they told her the myth of the slayer. One girl in all the world, who had become many recently, with the strength and ability to kill the forces of evil. Feeling this would be her only hope she fled the country going to Los Angeles to seek the protection of the slayers. In exchange she would betray in time the exact nature of the weapon she is protecting.

Roleplay Example « "Lian sat perched upon the rooftop of her family temple one knee pulled up to her chest being held firm by her arms. Her red kimono clinging to her body tightened by the position she'd put herself in. Her brown eyes focused on the horizon wondering just how many demons would be over the ridge before sunset. It had been a little over a week since the death of her mother had spread through the demonic grapevine and the attacks were already becoming tiresome. Her energy ran low as she prepared barrier after barrier and confusion spell after confusion spell. She sighed in dismay as she realized it would probably never be over at least not until she was dead. One hand swept through her long black hair as she stood up plastering a false optomistic smile upon her face. It wouldn't help matters to appear unhappy with her duty even if she was.
She could just now see the first of the demons pulling themselves up towards the small village where she lived. The barrier would hold him of that she was sure, it was the thousands more that she knew were following that worried her. Jumping down from her perch she walked swiftly towards the temple. There had to be a way to keep the map safe with out the need for her to have blood on her hands. Her chest constricted at the thought. The steps to the temple were in view in moments and she bounded them effortlessly standing now before the entrance. She took a deep breath and stepped with in the holy solitude.
"Your Holiness's may I have a word, the attacks have been increasing and I am worried that I will not be able to protect the map," Lian said clearly speaking in perfect chinese. One hand reached down to put a hand on the scripture that held the map to the forsaken weapon. She looked to the floor respectfully not daring to make eye contact until the spoke to her and invited her to do so.
"My child, you are always welcome here and you need not look down you are equal," One of them spoke back motioning with his hand to where she stand bowing. Lian looked up and moved closer to them kneeling on one of the cushions in the circle where the rest of them also knelt hands folded in prayer. "You are the protector, you must be enough to keep the demons at bay until such a time you have a daughter strong enough to take upon the burdon it is your destiny."
"But I refuse to spill blood, it is for the opposite of good that we take a life, any life good or evil," Lian stood nearly shouting before bowing her head in shame. How could she be so disrespectful to these men that raised her and taught her so many things. She just couldn't understand how if she was supposed to be protecting the world, that the demons that sought the map were not included in her protection. They were demons they did not ask to be the way that they were, she wasn't even sure if they were evil or confused. Wasn't it in her teachings that everything and everyone had good in them, that with out it the balance would fall.
"There may be another way," a younger monk spoke eyes opening slowly from his prayer. "Have we ever told you the story of the slayer?" He continued focusing on the frustrated young woman. He watched her shake her head then proceeded to inform her about some who may be alies in their fight. Lian listened intently feeling at last a great pressure released from her. There were many with a destiny just as hard as hers, perhaps they would be willing to help her protect the map and give her the life she dreamed of with love and family. Her made up she departed the very next morning for Los Angeles."
